Description:
Identification Notes:
A. diplophloeus occurs only in association with alders, although other alpovas occur with other trees. The genus Melanogaster also has a gelatinous gleba, but it is brown to black, and the spores are thick-walled and brown to purple.
Comments:
The generic name honors Alfred H. Povah, who collected the specimens on which the genus is based.
